Planet Parker summer program comprises a range of offerings for kids ages 4-14. One-week programs with options in adventure and play: imagination, sports, science and creative arts. Parker’s skilled teachers and education partners develop and lead our outstanding camp programs in our art studio, science lab, gym, fields, pond, playgrounds and throughout our 77 acres of woods and creeks in North Greenbush.

Planeteers – PreK-K

For toilet-trained children entering Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten,

and returning Parker Pre-K 3-Year Olds

Summer for Planeteers starts with their very own stuffed animal – a little buddy for exploring new and exciting destinations. Our imaginations take us everywhere! Exotic, adventure-filled locales inspire our artwork, songs and games. We’ll beat the heat during daily water play, enjoy lunch in our tree house, tramp through the forest and creeks on the hunt for creatures, prepare delicious themed snacks, make fantastical crafts and enjoy special friendship. Planeteers delight and discover in daily play time on the playground and fields at Planet Parker.

Week 1 – June 11-15th

Aloha Paradise, Grades 1-9, $225

Aloha! Get ready for a relaxing week filled with fun in the sun beach activities such as sandcastle-making, Hawaiian crafts, stories, and a luau. Vacationers will learn a variety of songs and games in the aloha spirit, and play on a variety of instruments including Orff instruments! The week will end in a cumulative performance and luau.

Community that Cares, Grades 3-9, $300

Come help your community this week! Learn about local organizations that help serve the surrounding communities, and what they do. We will visit multiple locations, like the Food Bank and Unity House, volunteer our time, and open our eyes to the world. At the end of the week we will show the rest of the kids what these organizations are all about and make a donation to each one!

LEGO Robotics, Grades 4-9, $280

Dream, design, build and program a robot of your own creation! During this high-voltage week, you will make your robot walk, dance, grab, “speak,” perform tasks and follow your every command. With the help of our LEGO Education certified instructor, you’ll design a blueprint, then make your robot a reality through imagination and skill with LEGOs in this challenging and exciting week.

 

Week 2 – June 18-22nd

Circus Theatricks Presents: Fairytales and… FEARytales, Grades 1-9, $325

Come join the theater in this year’s Players of Parkerville production! We’ll collaborate to create an original theater piece involving language, lyrics, and loads of laughs. Bring your song, bring your dance – grab the spotlight, now’s your chance! Friends and family are invited to see our one of a kind show on the afternoon of Friday, June 22nd.

Mad Scientists, Grades 1-9, $225

From exploding bottles of soda, to magical potions and an egg drop challenge, this week will put you in control of concocting all types of “mad” science. Explore kitchen chemistry, out-of-this-world physics phenomena, and other extreme science experiments that YOU create. We’ll make things fly, foam, freeze and more in this electrifying week of science fun.

 

Crafting Craze, Grades 4-9, $250

Let’s get crafting! During this week you will learn to make all sorts of crafts and art projects. We’ll explore weaving, decorative objects, outdoor chalk paint, printing, slime, and much, much more! We’ll be creating both indoors and outdoors. Campers will have the opportunity to explore all sorts of materials and media. It’ll be a crazy and crafty week!

 

Week 3 – June 25-29th

Board Game Expo, Grades 1-9, $225

Let the games begin! Come, play a variety of games from competitive board games and card games such as Smash up, Magic the Gathering, Qwirkle, and Sushi Go! to cooperative board games such as Pandemic and Werewolves of Millers Hollow. Campers will also be play a variety of cooperative and competitive games on our wonderful 77 acres of land. The week will end with a Parker Con where campers will become marketing specialists of their favorite game to demo, promote and of course make lots of swag!

 

Furry Friends, Grades 2-6, $250

If you’re a pet lover this is the program for you! During this week we will talk about pet care and learn about all different types of pets. We’ll paint pet portraits of either our real, or imaginary, pets. We’ll create pet-friendly treats and toys and share stories about our adorable furry friends!

Week 4 – July 9-13th

Super Heroes!, Grades 1-4, $225

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Super Camp! Being a super hero is hard and the best way to learn is Super Hero Week! We will explore super powers and secret identities through movement, story and song. Each day we will earn a part of our own super hero identity (cape, arm cuff, name). Activities will build around stories read during snack. Join us at the end of the week for a dance performance!

Parker MasterChef, Grades 3-9, $250

Back by popular demand, join us for a week of chopping and dicing! Chefs will learn skills and recipes, complete challenges, and take risks with food. Each day will be devoted to a different recipe and set of skills. Campers will even bring home their own cookbook and apron at the end of the week. Join us for this week of flavorful fun!

 

Survival, Grades 3-9, $230

The wild is calling! Campers will develop real-life survival skills: shelter building, fire craft, land navigation, tracking and foraging. Days will include hiking, friendly competitions and survival techniques simulating the most extreme climates on earth! An optional one-night camp-out (for campers entering grades 4 and up) will expand nighttime senses and confidence.

 

Week 5 – July 16-20th

Fairies and Dragons, Grades 1-4, $225

Join us for a magical adventure with Fairies and Dragons. Using dance, we will explore what these creatures do and how they move as we create a dance to be shown at the end of camp. Each day we will earn a piece of our costume (wings, wand, name and bracelet). We will also build a fairy garden for our dragons to wreak havoc on! Activities will be built around stories read during snacks. Music, dance, art, and story: we will be engaging the whole child for a week of learning and fun.

Parker Ninja Warrior, Grades 3-9, $225

Tackle our EXTREMEly fun obstacle course and take it to a whole new level. We will build and try out the longest and slipperiest water slide ever! We’ll make our way through agility power stations, low ropes course challenges, slack lines. Let’s work towards becoming a Parker ninja warrior. Are YOU up for the challenge?

 

Cook Around the World, Grades 5-9, $250

If you love to cook and experience new flavors, then this is the program for you. We will be “traveling the globe” this week and exposing our palettes to the flavors of various cultures! We’ll cook traditional meals from all around the world, and enjoy our delicious creations each day.

 

Week 6 – July 23-27th

Enchanted Forest, Grades 1-5, $225

Nature lovers! Come and discover the wonders of the wilderness at Planet Parker. Romp in the streams, meander in the meadows, and hit the trails with our nature expert. Each day will feature fun, hands-on activities from making bird feeders and terrariums, to creating living forest artwork and building a campfire. There’s no limit to the discoveries we can make!

Board Game Crafters, Grades 3-9, $225

Let the games begin! Learn how to create your very own board game with tips and tricks from the experts. Try out new games and play original games with your friends. Each team will design their own board games to be presented and played at the Parker Con gaming showcase on Friday. Each child will leave with a copy of their game to take home and enjoy.

Mystery Camp, Grades 4-9, $225

Do you enjoy putting your mind to work and solving mysteries? Then join us for a week of mystery and fun as we work solve a variety of games and puzzles. Campers will become detectives, scan evidence, uncover clues, unravel puzzles, and try to solve a variety of mysteries.  Campers will also stage mini mysteries and participate in other mystery-solving activities.

Week 7 – July 30th-August 3rd

Parker MUD Games, Grades 1-5, $225

It’s all about the fun this week as teams of adventure battle for points in Parker MUD games. Tackle a wet, wild and messy obstacle course. Build mud castles, compete in mud tug-of-war, and play a giant game of sloppy mud twister. We’ll play wacky games like capture the chicken, and zombie tag! This week will be anything but clean as we get down and dirty in the mud!

TinkerCAD Sculpture Camp, Grades 3-9, $250

Don’t miss this amazing offering where high-tech design skills meet ancient art forms. This is Parker’s only offering that mixes hands-on and virtual sculpting… Think Minecraft, for artists! Begin by exploring a variety of three-dimensional sculpting media like paper mache, clay, and recycled/found objects, then move into the lab to experiment with digital sculpting. Artists will learn programs such as TinkerCAD and Sculptris, where the sky’s the limit for what you can create.

Simple Sewing, Grades 4-9, $250

Have you always dreamed of sewing your own creations? This week we will explore simple and basic sewing techniques. Not only will we learn hand sewing techniques, but we’ll explore the exciting world of using a sewing machine as well. This week we’ll make everything from pillows to puppets. Join us as we sew through summer!

Week  8 – August 6-10th

Recycling Nature, Grades 1-5, $225

Combine your love of art and nature during this week of crafty fun. Use recycled and found materials to make animal sculptures, newspaper towers, nature portraits, rock mandala designs, scrap monsters, and more!

Animation Camp, Grades 4-9, $250

Campers will explore different forms of animation techniques. They will learn how to create characters and backgrounds, add props, test different ways to communicate their message, explore ways to integrate movement, and create their own animation videos.

Rock Band Camp, Grades 5-9, $250

This camp is the perfect opportunity for young musicians to come together and have fun making music! With the coaching of two experienced musicians, students will hone their own skills and gain confidence performing in front of others. Best of all, campers will work on their collaborative skills. Campers will work together to learn covers, share ideas, and to write their own music. Whether you play the guitar, bass, drums, or keys, this will be fun for all participants between grades 5 and 9. Keep in mind that this camp is designed for musicians who already have some experience playing their instruments.

Week 9 – August 13-17th

Mythical Creatures, Grades 1-5, $225

Enter the world of fantasy as we explore mythical creatures like dragons, fairies, trolls and mermaids! Campers will create create wee villages, petite parks, hobbit-sized highways and other structures that every elf, gnome and fairy will delight in. Using recycled items, natural building materials, and anything we can get our hands on, we’ll create a magical world for magical creatures.

Survival, Grades 3-9, $230

During this high-voltage week tailored especially for our mini-engineers, you will make your robot walk, dance, grab, “speak,” perform tasks and follow your every command. Fun and Games!, Grades 1-4, $225

Here at Planet Parker we know how to have fun! Wrap up the last week of summer with endless games and laughs. We’ll get your adrenaline pumping with relay races, carnival games and challenges like you see on gameshows. Join us for our last week of fun in the sun!

Recorder Rocks! Grades 3-9, $250

Join Planet Parker as we take a journey of music, excitement and fun with our trusty recorders! Each day we will experience new music through solos, small groups and ensembles of recorder and Orff instruments. There will also be recorder karate time where students learn songs on the recorder and earn belts! There will be a culminating performance on Friday!

Bust a Move!, Grades 4-9, $225

Let’s dance! Join us as we learn ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz dance styles as well as how to make our own dances. Each day will include a warm up, a class in each style of dance and many dance-related games. We will also have specialty classes in styles like salsa, improvisation, conditioning and more. Join us at the end of the week for a performance where we’ll show off our stuff!

 

 

Important Information

Schedule: All camps run from 9AM-3:30PM

Extended Care: Care is available from 7:30AM-9AM and 3:30PM-5:45PM daily. Before Care and After Care are designed to provide a warm, nurturing, and fun environment for young children. Pre-registration is required.

Lunch & Snacks: Children bring a bag lunch and morning snack each day. Healthy snacks will be provided in After Care.

Registration: Deadline May 17th, 2018

Complete registration form and payment by May 17th.

10% Discount: Off of your total balance for all registrations of 5 weeks or more per family.

Cancellation Policy: All camps are subject to a minimum and maximum enrollment. In the event of cancellation, Robert C. Parker School will notify campers in advance and will refund the entire camp fee. Children absent from camp will not be entitled to a refund or exchange of dates. Cancellations made prior to two weeks of camp start date will receive a full refund, less a $50 administrative fee per session. Refunds cannot be given for cancellations received less than 14 days before the camp week’s start date. A 50% deposit is due with registration.
